Over the past couple of weeks Roy has been helping me out on the van. Roy has been picking up all the skills to be a fantastic drivers mate. Loading and unloading the van, operating the tail lift, checking walk routes for obstructions and generally giving me some good banter in the cab. I would like to say well done to Roy for helping me out, and I know that I will need him on many more occasions to come.
In June and July this year a number of SLATE team members travelled to Northern College for a weekend residential. We learnt so much including map reading, surviving the outdoors, relaxation and creating comic book strips using the iPad. I have had some great feedback from all who attended and I look forward to our 2017 residential wherever that may take us!!!!!
A big well done to newly returned volunteer Trish and the rest of the Armley gang for a total transformation of the Armley kitchen / Staff Room. This was once a place to be avoided but now is a peaceful zone for all to enjoy and relax.
Well done to Anne and Lyn in the café for some superb bakes. Lyn had help bake over 100 quiches for an event to be held for the NHS at our café. Helen has said that they have turned out amazing and is very impressed with Lyn on her first quiche extravaganza. Anne took the sweet route and baked her first ever cake last week Helen and all the customers said it was fabulous… maybe better than Helen’s!!!!!!

Jordan has said goodbye to the bus and now bike’s all the way to the Warehouse from his home in Armley. As the nights are drawing in Rob has made sure that Jordan is all prepared for winter evening bike rides by supplying him with some lights and helmets. As you can see, Jordan look’s like a cycling pro.
Well Done to Neil who went down to London a couple of weeks ago to receive an award for his amazing customer service at the White Rose where he works. Well Done Neil from all your Friends at SLATE.
Big congratulations to Vincent who received his Level 1 Food Hygiene certificate last week. Vincent is very proud of this new qualification and will be hanging his certificate in his home for all to see. I’m sure Level 2 will not be far behind. Well done Vincent.
